Thanks to a generous legacy gift and donations already received through our Her Way Home appeal, we have purchased a new eight-bed house for our Women’s Project!
This milestone marks a powerful step forward in our mission to provide safe single-sex accommodation to twice as many women who are experiencing homelessness in Oxfordshire.
The new home will form part of our dedicated Women’s Project, offering a stable environment where residents can access tailored, trauma-informed support and begin to rebuild their lives.
Our CEO, Simon Hewett-Avison, says this new house for female residents “will provide the foundation for rebuilding lives. Working alongside local partners, we will deliver holistic support that empowers women to move forward with dignity and hope”.
As well as the eight ensuite bedrooms, the house features bright and roomy communal areas and a lovely garden that residents will be able to enjoy together. Beyond bricks and mortar, this house will be a space for community, healing and hope – a foundation for lasting change.
Her Way Home ambassador, Amber Hughes, whose sister Hannah stayed with Homeless Oxfordshire before she passed away in 2017, responded to the news saying: “I think Hannah would have thrived at this new house. She would have loved to have had her own space, to get into her pyjamas and settle down with a good book, alongside having that peer community – whether that’s sitting out in the garden and chatting over a cup of tea, having a movie night or sharing a meal.”

We are now calling on the local community to continue supporting the Her Way Home appeal. All donations will now go towards making the new house warm and welcoming ready for its first residents, as well as funding vital support services for all female residents across Homeless Oxfordshire’s projects.
“Creating a homely, welcoming environment is essential to the success of the Women’s Project,” said Carli Flory, Women’s Services Team Leader at Homeless Oxfordshire. “Many of the women we work with have lived through significant trauma, instability, and loss of trust in others. For them, safety is not just about physical protection – it’s about emotional security, belonging, and dignity.”
Thank you to everyone who has supported Her Way Home so far. Together, you are helping some of the most at-risk women in our community find their way home.
