Golfers raise £19,000 for Homeless Oxfordshire

Golf enthusiasts from local businesses took to the fairways at Studley Wood Golf Club near Barton in Oxford recently to raise money for Homeless Oxfordshire, helping to support people experiencing homelessness.

Nearly 100 golfers from local companies enjoyed perfect weather conditions to play their 18 holes, and participated in a raffle and auction, raising £19,000 for the charity.

Many of the organisations involved on the day are part of Homeless Oxfordshire’s Corporate Membership Club, which includes entry to the golf day for one team, along with other membership benefits including networking opportunities.

Accountancy firm and Homeless Oxfordshire Corporate Membership Club member Critchley’s said:

“Homeless Oxfordshire does incredible work, providing support and resources to individuals facing homelessness and trauma. We’re honoured to have been a part of such a brilliant event and to support the vital work of this charity.”

Another member, Get Support IT Services, said:

“We are very proud to be supporting Homeless Oxfordshire this year and it was great to see such strong support for this very worthwhile cause from so many businesses taking part.”

Funds raised at this event will go directly towards various support for people who are experiencing homelessness. For example, £100 provides a resident with a trauma-informed counselling session, £75 provides a resident with three meals a day for a week, and £12 could keep a resident safe and warm for a week.

Homeless Oxfordshire CEO, Simon Hewett-Avison, said:

“A massive thank you to the team at Studley Wood and to all the teams and sponsors. It was a cracking event! We are so grateful for the generosity shown by the participants.”

The charity plans to hold another golf day in 2025, and encourages local businesses and individuals to get involved.
