Exclusive! Angus Imrie records Christmas reading for Homeless Oxfordshire

You might recognise Angus Imrie from The Crown, Fleabag and The Archers, and we are very excited to announce his latest performance – an exclusive Christmas reading just for us from the renown ‘Just William‘ series!

The extract from ‘William’s Truthful Christmas’ will be recognised by many of our supporters, who will be familiar with the stories written by Richmal Crompton. We are excited to share this with our clients in our hostel at O’Hanlon House as a festive treat on Christmas Day.

Angus has been a supporter of our charity since 2018 when he first fundraised for us during the Thames Path Challenge in 2018. We asked him why he chose to support Homeless Oxfordshire in the first place, he said:

“It’s distressing every day to see the homeless problems in Oxford, and I think the work you do is essential and magnificent.”

He has since helped out as a volunteer in the kitchen and took part in the ‘Sleep Out’ in summer 2019 where he closed the night’s entertainment with a bedtime reading from Jon McGregor’s “If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things”. He also took part in our raffle earlier this year (although sadly he wasn’t a prize winner!).

As you will know, 2020 has been particularly challenging for charities like Homeless Oxfordshire who were already feeling the effects of austerity. Even in ‘normal’ times, Christmas is an especially difficult time for homeless people. This year has forced us to adapt to make our facilities and premises ‘COVID-secure’, leading to significant additional costs, made worse by the fact that we haven’t been able to do traditional face-to-face fundraising. Support from Angus and the ongoing loyalty of our regular donors matters more than ever and we can’t thank them enough.
