18 intrepid teams put their logic, sense of direction and teamwork to the test as they raced across Oxfordshire to raise £24,000 for Homeless Oxfordshire this month.

Based on the hit BBC show Race Across the World, the challenge saw teams of two travel the length and breadth of the county, armed with just a map, £30 in cash and some bus tokens.

Teams worked against the clock to be the first to reach multiple checkpoints and complete challenges before racing to the final checkpoint and the iconic signing-in book.

With one team reporting they had walked 19km by midday, and others who failed to reach the final checkpoint within the required nine hours, the challenge certainly tested our participants, and justified the generous fundraising that, to date, stands at £23,850.

The winning team, Fiona Curnow and Phil Kouvaritakis (pictured, above right, with Homeless Oxfordshire Partnerships Fundraising Manager, Tim Wraith) from law firm Gardner Leader, managed to clinch the victory with just five minutes between them and the runners up.
The winners were interviewed by Adam Ball on BBC Radio Oxford and celebrated their triumph at the Race Across Oxfordshire awards evening earlier this week.
