A great big thank you!

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been celebrating the wonderful people, businesses and organisations that dig deep to donate time, expertise and funds to Homeless Oxfordshire. Their support makes our life-changing work possible, and we can’t thank everyone enough.

The latest statutory homelessness statistics show that between October and December 2024, 293 households were assessed as homeless. That’s a 27% increase compared to the same period in 2023. But these figures only scratch the surface of the escalating homelessness crisis we’re facing.

Behind the statistics are real people with individual experiences, trauma and challenges who need dedicated support to help them rebuild their lives. And, thanks to our incredible donors and volunteers, we’re able to offer so much more than shelter and food.

Our Thank You event

Our recent Thank You event, held at The Story Museum in Oxford, was a brilliant opportunity to show some of our amazing local supporters just how much their generosity impacts our residents’ lives. The star of the show was Sam, a Homeless Oxfordshire resident, who shared his amazing original music and some powerful words with our guests.

Speaking as part of the opening talks, Sam said: “I lost custody of my children. I lost everything. All I had was the clothes I was wearing when I left the house. For three years I was really, really angry. But the support I received from Homeless Oxfordshire and other organisations really helped me. The work they do is absolutely essential. Without them, I wouldn’t even be on my way to any music.”

After the event, Sam told us that he has decided to “use the fantastic feedback from the guests as a motivational factor in my upcoming tracks”. We can’t wait to let everyone know when his music is released into the world.

Nataliia, Partnerships Coordinator at St Edward’s School, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to attend the event. The presentation was exceptionally well done, and the speakers were truly outstanding. The impact you are making is both powerful and deeply inspiring”.

A message to all our supporters

The event attendees were just a small handful of our supporters. So, we want to take the opportunity to thank all the wonderful donors, fundraisers and volunteers that stand alongside people like Sam on their journeys out of homelessness.

Your generosity not only brings warmth, shelter and food but also helps to rebuild lives. Reconnecting families, empowering survivors of abuse, and enabling people facing deep social exclusion to regain their independence.

Whether you support us because you have been affected by homelessness or addiction yourself, or you simply feel compelled to take action as the number of people experiencing homelessness continues to rise, we are forever grateful.
