Why should your business partner with Homeless Oxfordshire?

Despite the ‘Everybody in’ programme that took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, street sleeping and homelessness are still major issues that face many people in our society. Homeless Oxfordshire believes that every person should have a safe place to call home.

Currently we provide 200 people with a safe place to sleep and recover from homelessness every night of the year. Anyone can lose their home, and the reasons why that happens are varied. Even though for them things are really tough right now, they are still human beings with thoughts and feelings.

These are people who have often suffered extreme trauma and as a result have lost their homes.

Can you provide a helping hand to get them back on track?

Becoming a Homeless Oxfordshire business partner is an amazing way to show your local community that your business has a social conscience.

We are not naïve enough to think that we can end homelessness overnight, but together we can provide help and support to people who desperately need it.

By joining with us, we will be able to put more resource behind:

  • Providing initial support and assessment so that individuals can start to take control of their own lives again
  • Giving access to basic skills programmes such as, adult literacy, cooking, budgeting, well being
  • Creating more ‘move on’ accommodation for those who are ready to begin the road to employment and tenancy
  • Peer support opportunities

There is a lot of stigma attached to being homeless and someone might feel they don’t want anyone to know, but that’s the worst thing; because if nobody knows then nobody can help you.  So just tell someone. Tell the people who have been doing this for a long time - they know what they’re doing.

Anyone could become homeless. My friends, when they realised I’d become homeless, were very supportive and a lot of them said 'You know, most people are only a wage cheque away from being homeless'. And that is the reality today.”

Penny is now living independently it's not easy but with your help it is possible
