Last week, we interviewed a current client, Harry*. He said that sometimes, he has found it hard to understand the letters he receives. With our support, that's no longer the case!
Exactly the reason why improving #literacy is crucial to enabling independence in homeless adults.
Improving literacy among our client base is one of our priorities, which is why we're implementing a new reading library for our clients to enjoy! Your donations and book club subscriptions will be invested in doing all we can to help people like Harry regain their independence, by making sure they have good literacy skills.

So we know we've talked A LOT about our Book Club recently, but you might be wondering about our rationale behind it and also why there's a cost involved. 🧐

Often, poor literacy is a major barrier to someone gaining the support they need and it can even be a contributing factor to someone becoming homeless in the first place due to challenges in securing work. 😟
🟠 £4.99 is all we need to buy a new book to put in our reading library for our clients. 📖
🟠 £10.99 can buy educational books to help enhance someone's literacy skills, which is crucial to them gaining independence. 🙋♂️
For a monthly donation of either £4.99 or £10.99, you'll be giving yourself a chance to join a community of book lovers who are also passionate about improving literacy rates among adults who are experiencing homelessness 🤝
Please do tell your friends, family and colleagues and we can make a real difference to people's literacy skills in #oxfordshire! #literacyskills #literacymatters #improvingliteracyrates #homelessness #homelessliteracy

One of our former clients, Lucy* has taken the time to record a special reading of a poem that she found really helpful in her recovery.
🧡
As we slowly emerge from the winter months, Mary Oliver's, ‘A Summer’s Day’, seems very appropriate to share!
🧡
This poem is a special reading for you as a thank you to our fantastic supporters. We also want to say an extra big THANK YOU to Lucy for this beautiful reading.
