Golfers raise £6000 for Homeless Oxfordshire

Golf enthusiasts from local businesses took to the fairways at Studley Wood Golf Club near Barton in Oxford recently to raise money for Homeless Oxfordshire, helping support people experiencing homelessness.

10 teams of four golfers from companies such as Go Further Consulting, A-Plan, Unipart, and Michael Page enjoyed perfect weather conditions to play their 18 holes, and participated in a raffle and auction, raising over £6000 for the charity.

Paul Brooks from Go Further Consulting, who helped coordinate the event said:

“Every golfer has enjoyed the day and each of our sponsors has got value from working with us. In my view there is nothing better than all of us having a great time knowing it’s in aid of such a good cause.”

Homeless Oxfordshire is the county’s largest supported accommodation provider, and offers individualised services such as substance recovery, clinical psychology sessions, and trauma support.

Homeless Oxfordshire CEO, Simon Hewett-Avison, said:

“Our support goes beyond simply providing shelter. Everyone’s journey through homelessness is unique, and our support reflects that. We never give up on people.”

He added: “We are so grateful for the generosity shown by the participants of our golf day. The funds raised at this event will go directly towards supporting people who have experienced severe trauma – for example, just £50 provides one individual with a much-needed counselling session.”

The charity plans to make the golf day an annual event, and encourages individuals and corporations alike to get involved in 2024.
